John Ginty Brings his Jammin' Hammond to Blairstown, NJ
Give CDs to Food Pantry Donors
BLAIRSTOWN - John Ginty brings his jammin', gospel twinged Hammond B3 organ grooves to the Historic Blairstown Theatre Saturday November 22nd. A New Jersey native, Ginty takes a rare break from his national touring schedule with Citizen Cope to perform with his Jersey band mates from The John GintyBand and the John Ginty Trio. This show is a chance to play out with both bands and some surprise guests to a home town crowd. "No matter where I go or who I play for, there really is nothing like playing to a Jersey crowd."
He also heard the Blairstown area Food Pantry has been hit hard lately and the shelves have been left bare. To help out, Ginty and friends will be collecting food pantry items the night of the show. In thanks, every person who brings an item to helps restock the Pantry shelves, will receive a free advance copy of John's unreleased cd. "I'm happy to help the food pantry, especially as the holidays are approaching and we can reflect on how many people are struggling just to eat every day.... I'm truly blessed in life, got to give back whenever I can."
His "day job" with the Citizen Cope Band finds Ginty on the road hammering on the keys, piano and B3 most of the time. "We have hit every state except Alaska." After Ginty's brief break for the holidays, "Then it is back on the road with Cope to "DC, Florida, Texas and on to Australia and back to Hawaii next year."
Ginty was one of the original members of the Grammy Award winning Robert Randolph and The Family Band. He has toured and recorded with heavy hitters like Jewel, Santana, Matthew Sweet, Sheryl Crow, Ryan Adams and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
Now on his down time from Citizen Cope tours, John works on his own
projects. The John Ginty jam band released it's debut record in 2006.
"Fireside Live", recorded in Denville, NJ. The double disk received great reviews, and the band played supporting gigs with Shannon McNally, Jemimah Puddleduck and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. John launched his Hip-Hop Trio at the 2008 Black Potatoe Festival in Clinton, N. J. Multi instrumentalist and vocalist Kim Williams , longtime collaborator Mike Buckman and Ginty use hip hop loops and samples created in studio as the foundation for improvisation with piano, flute, guitar, melodica, violin, vibraphone, synths, and of course, features John on Hammond B3 organ. The trio, full
band and guest musicians will be mixing it up at the Historic Blairstown Theatre in downtown Blairstown, NJ. Singer Songwriter, Kathy Phillips opens up with her trio featuring Walt Bibinger and Kim Williams.
Advance tickets are available online at www.historicblairstowntheatre.com.
Doors open at 7:30, show time is 8pm Saturday, November 22nd. Tickets are $20. Food Pantry donations can be brought the night of the show. Items of special need are detergents, paper goods, coffee or canned goods. All ticket holders who donate will receive an advance copy of Ginty's new yet to be released cd.
